How long can you hold pee?

(Nathanael Gomes/)

For a well-hydrated person, nine to ten hours. By drinking little water and reducing urine production to 400 ml per day, an average adult can hold out for a maximum of 36 hours without causing damage to the urinary system or wetting his pants. Urine is formed inside the kidneys, which filter the blood and extract a liquid made up of water, urea, glucose, salts and amino acids. This fluid then passes through the renal tubule, where the body will reabsorb everything that is useful (like most of the water). Finally, this mixture also receives toxic substances that are expelled by the capillaries. Everything comes out together in pee, expelled through the urethra. It is important to remember that leaving urine accumulating in the bladder increases the risk of urinary tract infection, as bacteria multiply over time.
