How does it work and where did the Molotov cocktail come from?

This is a home-made incendiary bomb: a bottle filled with fuel with a wick in the neck. This type of weapon has existed since the flammable powers of gasoline were discovered, but the name came up in World War II. Soviet guerrillas used domestic weapons like this to attack the German army and decided to pay homage to the Chancellor (Minister of Foreign Affairs) and then President of the Council of Ministers of the former Soviet Union: Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Molotov (1890-1986). The chancellor himself even ordered a large quantity of bottles to attack the invaders.
