How are Colombians seen abroad?

Many times we wonder how we are seen abroad. In this article we will tell you about some of the headlines that are most reflected in the surveys carried out on people from other countries when they are asked about what they know about Colombians and what their characteristics are.

Gastronomically, we are associated with coffee and exotic fruits

Coffee is one of our emblems worldwide. It is one of the first foods referred to when foreigners are asked about the excellence of our land. Our coffee was recognized as a denomination of origin in 1997, and we are the largest producer of sweet coffee in the world. Outside Colombia, where the variety of fruit is not so common, some fruits that we use for our juices are unknown and that, once they visit us, become their favorites. These are: lulo, feijoa, cape gooseberry, mangosteen, pitaya, sapote or borojó.

How is the Colombian woman?

The Colombian woman looks like affectionate, tender, effusive, happy and loving; kind, sentimental and vain by nature, as well as honest, generous, industrious and conciliatory by conviction. Colombian women are enterprising, hard-working and dynamic, with a high sense of responsibility and very persevering.

kindness and fun

As for Colombians in general, 40% of those surveyed highlight our cheerful, friendly character and closeness to any person with whom they have dealings with the people of Colombia.

The best known is a woman: Shakira

Although celebrities such as athletes who have more followers like James or Falcao (or even Pibe Valderrama) stand out, and there are great banners from the world of culture such as Gabriel García Márquez or the singer Juanes, the best-known Colombian personality in the world is a woman and a great artist: Shakira.

The number one in the dance halls

Modestly, if there is something that we are envied in the whole world, it is the ability of Colombian women to impress on the dance floor and dance all kinds of music, especially salsa. The vallenato or the cumbia are some of the best-known typical dances, but also the latin pop.

With great initiative for business

And the last aspect of our personality that has not gone unnoticed by foreigners is our enterprising character. They mark us as people with skills to carry out their business ideas and purposes in life. Not in vain, according to the general study of entrepreneurship, GEM, the total rate of new entrepreneurial activity in Colombia is 23.7%, giving it the 4th place in the group of Latin American countries.

And you, what have your foreigners told you about us? How do you see Colombians?
