Help for bears in Poland

In 2012, the law banned the private keeping of bears in Poland. At this point, several bears were still living in appalling conditions in tiny cages in unlicensed zoos and other inappropriate facilities. Since there were no adequate ways to house these animals within the country, offered the authorities help to work out a solution.

In order to end the private keeping of bears and relocate the animals within Poland, signed a cooperation agreement with the city of Poznań in November 2012, which ended in November 2022. By signing the agreement, guaranteed financing for the construction of the most modern and spacious bear enclosure in Poland at Poznań Zoo. At the same time, the Poznań Zoo undertook to apply the high quality standards both during the construction phase and later in the management of the bear enclosure.
