Warm weather can be very pleasant outdoors. But a mild 20°C can very quickly turn a car into a heat trap. Dogs left in a locked car can find themselves in a life-threatening situation all too quickly. With a constant outside temperature of 20°C, the inside temperature can rise to approx. 24°C within five minutes, to 27°C in 10 minutes, to 36°C in 30 minutes and to 46°C within one hour.
From a temperature of 28°C, the dog has difficulty cooling down naturally by panting and the risk of heat stroke increases. Since the normal body temperature of dogs is 37.5-39 degrees, a warm car reading 43°C can cause a dog to suffer from multiple organ disorders and possibly even die.
appeals to all dog owners to never leave their dogs in the car – not even for a few minutes!
