Once again we will review a Smoothie alternative because summer is coming and it is time to enjoy something smooth, healthy and hydrated.
We chose strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, and bananas as the base, but any combination of fruits is great. Make a tropical pineapple, mango and banana smoothie or add blueberries and peaches to change it up a bit and give it a touch of summer.

Fresh or frozen fruit?
For smoothies, frozen fruit is best. It blends thicker than fresh fruit and gives you a really cold smoothie to enjoy after blending. If you don’t have frozen fruit, freeze fresh fruit for 30 minutes before blending or add about 1 cup of ice and blend until smooth.
Add a thickener
We use unsweetened Greek yogurt in our smoothie, but peanut butter, almond butter, or vanilla yogurt are great options.
Traditionally, about 1/2 cup is ideal. If you prefer thinner shakes, you can decrease the amount of thickener.
choose a liquid
Almond milk is great for adding flavor, but coconut milk goes well with a tropical smoothie and gives it a richer, creamier flavor.
Whole milk or fruit juice works well too. 1 1/4 cups of liquid is the perfect consistency.
Add some plugins
Add some spinach or kale for extra nutrition, or flaxseed for omega-3s.
Flavors like fresh mint, vanilla extract, cinnamon or honey will take any smoothie to the next level.
