The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) celebrates World Food Day every year on October 16, the day this organization was founded (1945). And it is that food is the basis of our civilizationWell, without food, who will work?
Speaking of basics, do you remember the food pyramid that we were taught when we were little? According to the FAO, the pyramid classifies foods by grouping them according to the similarity of their nutritional contribution; the location and size of each group suggests the proportion of each to include in the diet.
So one should eat more grains, vegetables and fruits, at the bottom of the pyramid, and less fat and sugar, at its top. But let’s not lie to ourselves, are we really aware of the importance of following these rules for good health?
Eating well not only helps us look slimmer, it also prevents diseases such as hypertension, diabetes and some cancers.
