Halloween just passed but the celebrations associated with death continue in the world these days. Within this framework, sweets take on an important role, and naturally, chocolate is one of the great favourites.

In the world, cocoa-producing countries are often places where there is a lot of poverty, located in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Oceania. This, naturally, makes labor in these places very cheap, but also, in some of them labor regulations are both anachronistic and unfair.

Last September, a demand filed in the United States, points to some chocolate brands such as Hershey, Mars or Nestlé in the combo of corporations that use the exploitation of children in Africa. As part of the legislation, in the United States it was proposed since 2001 that chocolate brands include the slogan «free from slavery» on their label, however they managed to have this process postponed, first to 2005 and then until 2014.

There is also an important documentary called Slavery: A Global Investigation where this situation in the world is investigated.
