Eye bags: the new trend in makeup

A new trend that mimics dark circles is gaining strength on social networks… Is it that now you no longer have to hide them but paint them?

“Skinny, haggard, tired and without illusions” seems to be the song that women hum now while they put on makeup with the new ‘haggard’ trend. And it is that in social networks like Instagram it is increasingly common to find young people proudly wearing dark circles that they themselves have painted.

Last year the fashion was to make up as if you had guava, with all the eyelashes and shadows spilled under the eyes, but now everyone wants to have dark circles… How trends have changed! Before we did everything to hide the bags under our eyes, and today it’s time to paint them.

As almost always happens with strange trends, this one comes from the east, from Korea, to be more exact, however is taking more and more strength in the West, especially in English-speaking countries, where it is known as “aegyo sal” (Korean term meaning “bag under the eyes”), which gives the illusion of having gone straight without sleeping. Words more, words less, is what we in Colombia call ‘eye bags’.

The madness is going too far in some cases… As reported by the British newspaper Dailymail, some women have applied to plastic surgeons help to transform their faces and look permanently haggard.

“This ‘aegyo salt’ look can be achieved using a number of methods including hyaluronic acid filler or fat transfer. However, it must be stressed that any work around the eye using fillers should only be done by very advanced and skilled professionals. Unless the area is treated very conservatively, major complications can occur. Lumps, asymmetry, discoloration and persistent swelling can remain if the wrong product is used and in the wrong hands.Plastic surgeon Jonquille Chantrey explained to said medium.
