For a long time we have heard that Chapultepec is a natural lung in the CDMX and, without a doubt, it is one of the spaces that provide fresh air and nature in the midst of both metropolitan bustle. It is good to know that there is an ideal place to breathe a little; However, the study of the environment requires adequate attention and, therefore, on January 19, 2023 Environmental Culture Center opened its doors in the CDMX.
Definitely, We needed an environmental culture center in our countrysince incentive regarding matter is scarce. Thus, this cultural, landscape and environmental node is part of the different initiatives that involve the care of the environment in Mexico. In this way, the architect Rafael Ponce Ortiz de Erre q erre architecture and urbanism, took over the project that resulted in a forum and exhibition space.

The Environmental Culture Center is unique in its type
Until recently there was a space in Chapultepec that deforested and turned into a parking lot. Today, all that surface was occupied by the Environmental Culture Center that is a set of thematic gardens that reinterpret the landscapes of the most representative ecosystems of the Valley of Mexico. This is part of the initiatives of the Master Plan «Chapultepec Nature Culture», coordinated by Gabriel Orozco.
To find the proper design, several filters were passed, the first being a public and open contest; This was summoned by the Government of Mexico City in coordination with the Federal Government, and erre that was the selected study to build the center in 154 thousand square meters, of which, 101 thousand are only for new gardens, which, in turn, have at least 1000 new trees that do not affect any that previously exists.
