Emergency Christmas Tree (Tutorial)

How to put together a last minute Christmas tree that fits any small space?

If Christmas caught you without a tree, don’t worrywe show you how to make an emergency one that you can also put in small spaces… We share the tutorial that we found in Masablewe loved it!

Materials:
  • A cardboard tube. The height of your tree will depend on how long the tube is. For a taller, «life-size» tree, you can use 2 tubes glued on top of each other.
  • Green thick paper. It also works great with cardstock or any paper that isn’t brittle. You can also use something with patterns, glitter or make your tree with the colors of the rainbow.
  • Scissors
  • Duct tape (traditional, masking, or whatever you have on hand)
  • christmas ribbons
Step one:

Start building the tree from the base, which is the widest part of the tree. Roll up a piece of paper to form a cone (as big as you can make it). To do this, hold your paper like it looks like a diamond and bring the corners together. You should have two points on both sides of the cone. Make 8-10 cones, enough to fit around the base of the tube.

Step Two:

Tape the tips of your cones to the tube. Depending on how widely you are going to distribute them, add 12 to 20 centimeters to the base of the tube, so that they can stretch, but at the same time they can touch the work surface, keeping the tube steady. With 8 to 10 cones you should fill the surface, adjust if necessary.

Step three:

For the second layer use cones the same size as the first layer to keep a nice wide base. Stick them to the tube as you did before, between 12 to 20 centimeters above the previous base, or what you consider for a better distribution.

Step four:

Continue adding layers to the tree. However, start making your cones shorter. To do this, cut 2-5 centimeters off the paper before rolling it up. Use as many cones as you need to fill each layer and make it look lush. Stop adding layers when you have 4 to 5 inches of tubing to prepare for the last layer.

Step Five:

For the final layer, cut square pieces of paper that are 6 by 6 inches long and roll them into cones. To add, flip the ends and glue them to the inside of the tube.

Step Six:

Every Christmas tree needs an ornament at the top! Use some ribbon to make a festive bow at the top of the tree. Stick it with silicone, tape or a pin, whatever you have on hand. You can also decorate the tree with lights or maybe some light decorations.

And it looks like this:
