Dog covered in hundreds of ticks – her rescuers help at the last second

Anyone who adopts an animal brings happiness home. But there are also a number of obligations that come up.

This includes regularly checking the animal for ticks, fleas and other pests.

The story of the dog Belle shows what unbelievable things can happen if you don’t do this.

Ticks are also dangerous for animals

If we discover a tick on ourselves or our fellow human beings, we usually act immediately and remove the annoying bloodsuckers.

The same should be done with dogs and cats, because the arachnids can, in the worst case, lead to the death of the animal.

This was almost the case with the dog Belle, the poor animal is covered with hundreds of ticks, especially in sensitive areas such as the eyes and ears.

When Area Led Pet Welfare (CLAW) finds her, she is in a terrible state.

Her face is riddled with bumps, only when the rescuers take a closer look do they realize that there are countless ticks.

It seemed like nobody had cared for Belle in a long time

The bitch from South Africa is covered with the arachnids.

«She doesn’t really look like a dog anymore»

that’s how epic-interesting describes it.

The ticks are gathered around Belle’s eyes and ears, sucking her blood. It doesn’t take much expertise to suspect that such a tick attack will eventually lead to the death of the animal.

Belle already appeared to be anemic, suffering from anemia and could barely walk.

The volunteers from Area Led Pet Welfare (CLAW) immediately take them to a veterinarian.

The ticks cannot simply be pulled out

It is unimaginable what an ordeal it would be to remove every single tick with tweezers or tick tweezers. Apart from that, it would be far too dangerous as it would cause Belle to lose even more blood.

For example, the vet uses antiparasitic medication to paralyze the ticks, making it easier to remove them.

The vet then has to replace the nutrients that Belle has lost because she is also severely malnourished.

Belle is finally feeling better

The difference after the treatment and recovery phase could hardly be more remarkable. Like having another bitch in front of you.

She looks like a normal pet again and even finds a woman who wants to adopt her in a timely manner.

Despite being so close to death, Belle is now able to lead a happy and contented canine life.
