Do you want to know if you are an old soul?

Generally speaking, we are all old souls, but some of us have been here longer than others. Here are 14 signs that will tell you if you are an old soul:

1. You have to think a lot about everything. You are always finding deeper meaning in your relationships, simple interactions with strangers, and in the world around you.

2. You enjoy solitude and use it as a time to reflect on your life and everything that happens in it. You continually seek higher understanding and are incredibly introspective about life.

3. You have always had a much higher maturity for your age. When you were a kid people commented on how mature you were and you probably enjoyed sitting at the adult table instead of the kid’s table. It’s not that you couldn’t have fun being a kid, it’s just that sometimes you thought adult conversations were so much more interesting.

4. You enjoy simple things, like drinking coffee and reading the news, having breakfast with friends, cooking a good meal, or reading a good book.

5. You have a philosophical perspective on life and see the world on a larger scale than most people. When you face problems you try to see it as a learning experience and see your struggles as just part of your journey.

6. You do not place much value on the possession of expensive material items. You find that you get much more out of your personal relationships and experiences than you do out of anything you may have.

7. You focus on self-actualization and enjoy self-expression through writing, art, music, or other streams.

8. You are sensitive and spiritual in nature. You tend to trust your gut on things because you are rarely wrong. You just have a «feel» about things and can read people well.

9. You feel connected to certain time periods and find yourself more interested in the art, history, or culture of that decade.

10. Even if you have a large social circle full of friends and acquaintances, you have always felt a bit different from others. You may not necessarily think of yourself as a loner, but you are certainly comfortable being alone and understand the difference between being alone and being a loner.

11. Regardless of where you go, you seem to be the kind of person that strangers are inclined to talk to. There is something about you that makes others want to spill their life story within minutes of meeting you.

12. Sometimes you feel a sense of separation between yourself and the «real world.» You recognize that you have a way of thinking about life in terms of money, possessions, relationships, etc., and then there is the conventional approach to life that most people have. You don’t think one is better than the other, they’re just different.

13. You have a high level of empathy and acceptance towards others and understand the importance of forgiveness. Because of this your friends are always looking for advice or they tell you a secret that they would not tell anyone else. They know that you will listen to them without judging.

14. You savor the quiet moments in life that may seem old-fashioned to others. Maybe this means going for a Sunday walk in the country or writing a letter (an actual letter, not an email) to a friend who lives across the country.
