Defining the Delete (or Del) Key

(delete key, delete key, delete key, del key). A key found on computer keyboards, usually abbreviated as «Del» or «Delete», used to delete something.

It is generally found twice on the keyboard, its position varying depending on its brand and type.

In text editors, the Delete key deletes the next character from the current cursor position (unlike the backspace key, which deletes the character before the cursor position).

The Delete key is also used to delete a certain object in a program. For example, in a file browser, delete one or more selected files.
