An extraordinary event has taken place at an animal farm in Michigan: a rare white-faced fawn that was rejected by its mother has found a loving home there.
The incredibly adorable baby deer named Dragon was only a week and a half old and has already won many hearts.
Dragon was born at the Deer Tracks Junction animal farm in Cedar Springs, Michigan, Fox 17 reported.
Its human surrogate mother, Hilary Powell, owner of the farm, explained that the fawn was probably rejected by its mother because it was born with a white-faced coat.
This trait would have made it difficult for him to survive in the wild.
A miracle of nature: The rarest fawn in the world
In the wild, fawns like Dragon are extremely rare. Only about 1% of deer are born with a white piebald face and belly.
The fawn’s mother, a white-tailed deer named Bunny, gave birth to such an extraordinary creature.
Dragon was born with bright blue eyes and a pink nose, which set him apart from the other fawns.
Its unusual nose color can become a disadvantage in the wild, where unprotected exposure to the sun could result in sunburn.
A loving home on the animal farm
But on the animal farm, Dragon is now lovingly cared for.
Hilary Powell and her family take care of the fawn and bottle feed it.
Soon the little guy will be ready to welcome visitors to the farm.
