Daria, the famous protagonist of the MTV animated series that became cult in the 90s, is going to return to TV. According to Variety magazine, a new division of the young channel, called MTV Studios will produce a new series with the girl. Other programs should also be revived, such as animation aeon flux (which became a flop movie in 2005) and the reality show Real World (a pre-Big Brother where people weren’t confined, exhibited in Brazil as For real).
Daria’s new series will be called Daria & Jodie, focusing not only on the famously antisocial student, but also on Jodie Landon, her black colleague and activist – promising plenty of political satire and social commentary. The series does not yet have a premiere date.
Would give premiered in 1997, as a derivative of Beavis and Butt Head, and ran for five seasons, ending in 2002. The protagonist was a high school student with strong misanthropic tendencies and many sarcastic jokes to dish out. In other words: the show was one of the best things on TV at that time.
