Could bat soup cause the coronavirus?

Studies revealed a couple of days ago and supported by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, maintain that the outbreak of the new coronavirus would be strongly linked to bat soup.

This is a fairly traditional preparation from the eastern region, made with an open bat cooked in water and accompanied by fruit; It is also prepared with coconut milk or fried in oil.

Many point out that it tastes like chicken broth; however, doctors have warned on different occasions how toxic the meat of this animal can be for humans.

So far, the intermediate carrier of the disease or its mode of transmission have not been specifically indicated; however, the link is believed to be between wild animals and farmyard or seafood markets.

“The fact that bats are the native hosts of Wuhan CoV (coronavirus) would be a logical and convenient reasoning, although it is still likely that there are intermediate hosts in the network of transmission from bats to humans”

However, a different study, revealed by the magazine «New Scientist», compared the genome of several samples of this new virus with more than 200 viruses of various species.

The results showed similarities with bat viruses; however, with which it was found more similar, it was with those of the snakes.
