In case of Doris Adriana Child It is the most remembered judicial problem in the country. The woman’s body was found in a rural area of the municipality of Cómbita, Boyacá, on May 15, 1997.

In the judicial investigation it was determined that the woman’s body had been located in the area by two escorts of the vallenato singer. The witnesses indicated that Niño left the apartment of the ‘Cacique’ in the north of Bogota.

In October 1997, Díaz along with two of his escorts were detained by the authorities. Five months later he was called to trial for his responsibility in the crime of manslaughter, however in June of that year the charge was changed to pre-intentional homicide.

The ruling indicated that the singer-songwriter did not commit homicide since the death of the young woman occurred in a culpable manner, that is, that the defendant never had the intention of murdering Doris Adriana Child. The same sentence ordered the payment of 100 million pesos to the victim’s family for moral damages and $35 million for material damages.

After serving 3 years and 7 months deprived of his liberty, the singer announced his return to the musical scene and even launched a new album.
