Conspiracy Theory: Doppelgänger, its evil copy

ILLUSTRATES Estevan Silveira

1) Bad influence

The theory that we all have at least one “twin” out there has many origins. Most go back to German culture – where the term doppelganger (meaning “walking double”) appeared. It was first used in 1796, in the novel Siebenkasby the Frenchman Jean Paul (pseudonym of Johann Paul Richter) in 1796. In it, the protagonist is convinced by his copy to forge your own death to get rid of the wife

2) A figure that follows

In German folklore, there is also a legend of a mystical creature that would have the ability to choose, for any reason, a “victim” and copy even the deepest characteristics of it. After the duplication process, the being would accompany the individual wherever he went, but just imitating him, without bad intentions

3) Don’t listen

In several mythologies, seeing one’s own copy would mean an omen of bad omen or even a warning that death is near. This trend also persists: one version of the legend alleges that, when talking to the “original”, the doppelgangers appear to be giving life advice, but are, in fact, planting seeds. evil ideas and distorted

4) There can only be one

There is a theory that is less supernatural and more statistical: that among the 7 billion people on Earth, everyone has a 100% identical double lost somewhere. However, thepersonality would be opposite. If one is kind and charitable, the other is harsh and selfish. If one is smart, the other is stupid. If they meet, they inevitably try to eliminate each other.

5) Wild reports

Throughout history, there have been several records of suspected doppelgängers. One of the most famous was described by Goethe, author of Faustin his autobiography,Memoirs: Poetry and Truth. When saying goodbye to his beloved, Frederica Brion, to go to the city of Drusenheim, the writer saw a copy of you walking in the opposite direction. But the double was wearing a gray and gold outfit

6) In the classroom

During a class by French teacher Emile Sageé, who taught in Latvia during the 19th century, thirteen students saw a doppelganger appear beside her and imitate their movements. Later, during a sewing class, while the teacher was taking care of the garden, the students saw the double appear on a chair. In both moments, Emileé declared to have felt a lot of weakness

7) Insane sanatorium

The Waverly Hills Sanitarium, in Louisville, USA, is also the source of several stories. When the program team supernatural investigation Ghost Adventures was there, witnessed the phenomenon firsthand: one of the team members, Aaron Goodwin, claimed to have seen the double of colleague Nick Groff disturbing the recordings. On the other hand…

“Haunting” may have a neurological explanation

– Human DNA is so complex that it allows for an almost infinite number of physical aspects. In addition, over time, each person gains other characteristics throughout life: scars, haircuts, changes in teeth… Finding someone 100% like you is practically impossible

– The cases may be the result of autoscopy – a neurological phenomenon in which the person experiences the sensation of seeing himself and the world as if he were outside his own body. In psychiatry, recurrent autoscopy can be a symptom of schizophrenia and epilepsy

– Proving that the phenomenon may be biological, in 2006, patients in a survey at the University Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland, were able to see, feel and touch their “copies” after being electrically stimulated in the left temporoparietal lobe. It is in this part of the brain that information about one’s own image and personality is stored.
