Conspiracy Theory: Didn’t Elvis Presley Die?

ILLUSTRATES: Ruby

Officially, the king of rock passed away on August 16, 1977. Since that time, however, suspicious information and alleged appearances have fueled the idea that it could all have been a hoax.

1) #PARTIU VIDA NEW

At the end of the 70s, his career seemed to go downhill: obese and with a compromised voice, he was addicted to medicine and even had overdoses. With the support of the government, Elvis would have faked his death in exchange for information about the dark side of show business, including the denouncement of important people linked to the mafia. Thus, he would gain a new anonymous life

2) THE KING OF TANGO

Witnesses claim to have seen a helicopter land at Graceland, Elvis’ mansion, on the day of his death. The musician would have boarded it to escape. Personal objects would also have disappeared from the house and, the day after the death, the most bizarre: a man named John Burrows, very similar to the singer, would have landed in Buenos Aires

  • The Argentine press claimed that a Boeing 747 descended on the Palomar military base on the day of Elvis’ death. It was the first plane of its kind to land in the country.

3) LETTERS FROM BEYOND

A friend of the star, Ellen Foster, says she received a call from him on August 15, warning her not to believe what would happen in the following days. More bizarre things happened after the “death”: two lovers of the rocker would have received letters signed by him, with affectionate nicknames that only the couple knew

4) FAKE HAM

According to conspirologists, the «corpse» that was veiled was actually a wax doll with strange features. The coffin, notably large and heavy, would house a cooling system to keep the wax from melting. There are also those who say that a coffin of that size would not be ready overnight.

5) GIVING FLAG

Elvis served in the Army and rose to the rank of sergeant. But, contrary to expectations, his burial did not have military pomp. The coffin was not even draped with the US flag. For conspirologists, the singer’s father would have refused the ritual because it was not his son who was being buried.

6) SPECIAL PARTICIPATIONS

Since 1977, many people claim to have seen the singer around. The first appearances were at Graceland itself: a fan registered an alleged Elvis behind a door. Since then, he would have been seen in Argentina, in the USA, at the inauguration of Barack Obama and even as a figure in the film. They forgot me (nineteen ninety)!

7) A DEAD WHO WRITES

The death certificate also raises suspicions. The name is misspelled, Elvis “Aron” Presley – the correct one would be Aaron, as he was christened and is in the tomb. The singer’s weight is listed as only 70 kg, and he certainly weighed more. There are those who claim that the handwriting on the document is that of the musician himself…

8) BLOOD TEST

Dozens of «experts» are looking for evidence to prove the alleged hoax. One of the more bizarre attempts was by Bill Beeny, a former Kentucky pastor who claims to have DNA samples from Elvis alive and from the guy in the coffin, and they don’t match. Beeny published the theory in the book Elvis’ DNA Proves He’s Alive
