Ingredients for the beef chop suey recipe

  • 200 grams of beef
  • 200 grams of Chinese roots
  • 1/2 big onion
  • half zucchini
  • half carrot
  • 2 small stalks of long onion or leek
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • Two tablespoons oyster sauce (only if you have)
  • Two teaspoons of dark soy sauce
  • Two tablespoons of cornstarch
  • A tablespoon of red wine
  • 1/2 tablespoon sugar
  • Vegetable oil
  • pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

Step 1. Marinate

The first thing is to cut the meat into strips and put it in a bowl to marinate it. Do it by integrating a little cornstarch, the oyster sauce and the soy sauce. Mix everything very well by hand and reserve in the fridge for about 20 minutes.

Step 2. Chop

Chop the garlic finely, julienne the big-headed onion as well as the zucchini, the carrot into sticks and the long onion or leek into pieces.

Step 3. Make sauce

In a separate container, pour oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, a tablespoon of cornstarch, pepper and salt to taste. Stir well until all the ingredients are incorporated.

Step 4. Sauté and serve

In a frying pan, pour a splash of vegetable oil and once it has taken temperature, add the garlic and at once the pieces of beef. When you see it well cooked, add all the vegetables and the wine. Also add the Chinese roots and the sauce that you made in the previous step. Leave the heat on high and sauté this mixture. You should do it for about 5 minutes.
