«Bogotá Works» is a new initiative born from the union of the National and District Government to create a public employment agency through which citizens can access employment opportunities.
This is a reality thanks to the alliance between the Ministry of Labor and the Secretariat of Economic Development, who will each contribute their technological platforms in managing vacancies, applicants and company offers.
The ‘Bogotá Works’ center opens tomorrow in the Plaza de los Artesans, on the occasion of International Labor Day and will remain open from 7 am to 4:30 pm
According to data from District Observatory of Economic Development, In the country’s capital, an unemployed person takes an average of 17.4 weeks to find a job, with those over 45 years of age taking the longest to find a job again.
Increasing the opportunities and improving the effectiveness in this search carried out by hundreds of Bogota citizens is one of the objectives of this alliance. “For this year, six kiosks are expected to come into operation, strategically located in different locations in the city, bringing this service to the territories, also helping job seekers to find job options and employers to formally link workers who fit your needs”explained the secretary of Economic Development, Carlos Simancas.
It also seeks to maintain or improve the employability rates registered in the last two years in the city. According to the Observatory, the city has the lowest unemployment levels and for the first time, it reached single digits, standing at 8.8 percent.
The secretariat had already launched the page www.bogotatrabajo.gov.co that publishes job offers, market information and training processes. In the database registered on this platform there are 86,241 resumes and 855 companies authorized to publish their vacancies.
