Rice is one of the oldest foods produced and grown by people. It has been cultivated for 8,000 years, becoming the food base for at least 50% of the world’s population. There are several types of rice, with white and brown being the most consumed. Coming from an aquatic seed, it is a great source of carbohydrates, B vitamins, and antioxidants, as well as delivering a few grams of protein per serving.

benefits of rice
1. It Can Stabilize Your Blood Sugar Levels
Related news
While you may have heard that white rice is starchy and has a comparatively high glycemic index, the truth is that when paired with other foods like vegetables, it can prevent blood sugar spikes. But if you are diabetic, check with your doctor before including it in your diet.
2. Does not contain gluten
Rice is a hypoallergenic food and also a blessing for people allergic to gluten or celiac. Rice, a gluten-free grain, can also be easily made into flour, noodles, and bread for people who opt for these types of options.
3. It is an inexhaustible source of energy
Since rice is a carbohydrate-rich food, it provides a lot of energy very quickly. And that’s why even athletes prefer white rice to brown rice when they need an energy boost.
4. Helps heart health
When you opt for brown rice, you support your heart health. Even the American Heart Association agrees that whole grains improve blood cholesterol levels and further reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.
5. Keeps the gut healthy
Even when you eat refined white rice, you get a large dose of soluble fiber, that is, resistant starch called butyrate. Butyrate can improve your gut health by reducing any inflammation. That is the reason why people are often advised to eat boiled rice in case of diarrhoea. Source: Befunky
