Baby chimpanzee watched as his mom was shot

Baby chimp Kailo has had far too much tragedy in his young life. Poachers shot his mom so they could sell Kailo as a pet.

Despite being very young, Kailo remembers everything that happened to him, according to a report by iheartdogs.com.

Orphan rescued by humans

Fortunately, the little brat was rescued by other, dear people and taken to a sanctuary.

Of course, when the baby chimpanzee was released from its wooden crate, it was still terrified.

But it also wanted nothing more than a lot of love and affection – things that the little rascal had been heartlessly taken from after just a few days.

The little chimpanzee was so hungry for love that he almost desperately clung to his rescuer and literally threw himself into her arms.

His hugs said more than a thousand words could have done.

High emotional intelligence

It is no wonder that the baby chimpanzee reacted in this way. Because chimpanzees are not only highly intelligent, they are also very emotional and sensitive.

They are also very affectionate and need affection. The little chimpanzee showed all this when he hugged his rescuer.

We hope that the monkey baby can finally put his bad start in life behind him.

monkeys as pets

Unfortunately, chimpanzees are becoming increasingly popular as pets – a fate Kailo narrowly escaped.

He now lives with other baby chimpanzees. His helpers do everything for the little ones to prepare them for life in the wilderness as quickly as possible.

Please share this story as much as possible – so hopefully the trade in baby monkeys as pets can be stopped soon!

Here is the really cute photo series of the chimpanzee baby:
