Advantages and disadvantages of using wireless networks

Advantages of wireless networks over networks that use cables (wired networks):

* There are no physical cables: therefore there are no cables that get tangled up, or that hinder traffic or that are statically annoying.

* The installation of wireless networks is usually cheaper.

* Its installation is also easier.

* Allow great range; wireless home networks are typically up to 100 meters from the transmitting base.

* Allows the connection of a large number of mobile devices. In wired networks, the more devices there are, the more complicated the cable network.

* Possibility of connecting nodes over long distances without wiring, in the case of corporate wireless networks.

* They allow more freedom in the movement of connected nodes, something that can become a real problem in wired networks.

* Allows you to create a network in complicated areas where, for example, it is difficult or very expensive to connect cables.

* Allows you to expand a wired network in case of mixed networks (mixtures of wireless and wired)

Disadvantages of wireless networks

* There are still no conclusive studies on the degree of danger of electromagnetic radiation used in wireless networks. In any case, most studies indicate that they are harmless.

* They are somewhat more insecure than wired networks, which is why government defense and intelligence agencies use wired networks inside their buildings.

* Bandwidth of wireless networks is less than wired; in other words, the speed achieved by wired networks is higher.

* Wireless networks are a little more unstable than wired networks, they may be affected by other electromagnetic waves or nearby electronic devices.

* The wireless signal may be affected or even interrupted by objects, trees, walls, mirrors, etc.
