Adopt a senior pet

With an older animal, you no longer have to guess how size and character will develop. Because a senior pet doesn’t change much anymore. This makes it a lot easier to decide whether the animal fits the family (and the family fits the animal).

Older, well-socialized animals can usually integrate well into a household with several animals. They are less irritable because of their age and tend to avoid any kind of stress.

Anyone who takes in a senior usually no longer has to worry about their upbringing. Older dogs often already know basic commands such as «sit», «down», «stay» and cats know how to use the litter box. Dogs are used to walking on a leash and usually know what is expected of them. But that doesn’t mean seniors are boring! You can still teach your companions many tricks and have a lot of fun doing it. That keeps both of them going.
