Find out what the color of your period says

There are signs that can put us on alert while we are on our period and many have to do with the tone of our bleeding that can put us on alert, something could be happening, batteries!

Surely you have ever noticed a variation in the tone of your rule (for example, with a more orange or brownish bleed) to which a priori you have not given importance. Well, it shouldn’t have been like that, since any anomaly in its smell or color should immediately alert us that something is wrong and that we should go to our gynecologist.

With the help of this gallery prepared by our colleagues at Ser Padres, we have written a small guide with which you will be able to know month by month what your period wants to tell you. And remember, at the first change, consult your doctor.

rosacea period

If your period is pink, or red with pinkish tints, calm down: you are in the first days of your period, when it is still weak and there is minimal blood loss. There is no need to be alarmed unless this continues throughout the cycle, in which case go to your doctor, it could be a hormonal alteration or disease.

ruler in bright red

The bright red color on our ruler is reassuring as it indicates health when your period lasts around a week. But if the bleeding lasts longer, more than eight days, with this tone, it is better that you go to the doctor.

ruler in burgundy color

Sometimes our period may be a dark red color, almost burgundy. Don’t worry, if this occurs on the most intense days, it’s totally normal. The problem if it continues like this for a longer time, even in the last days of your cycle, you should go to the gynecologist immediately, as it could be a sign (among other things) that a miscarriage has occurred.

orange ruler

A red tone with orange hues in your period is usually synonymous with infection; If a strong and unpleasant smell is added to the color, do not hesitate and go to your doctor as soon as possible.

dark brown ruler

If your period is brown, you do not have to be alarmed, since it may be the oldest blood from your last period. You should go to the doctor if, apart from being dark, it is mixed with a yellowish tone and a bad smell, since it can be a symptom of infection.

some spots

If you find small spots on your underwear during your period (or even if you don’t), it could be a sign of a hormonal imbalance or pregnancy. To clear up any doubts, consult your gynecologist.

You don’t get your period

First of all, breathe: not having your period is not synonymous with pregnancy in one hundred percent of cases. It may be a hormonal change, a problem related to a sudden rise or fall in weight that your body has to get used to, or even a disease. For more security, go to your doctor as soon as possible to check that everything is fine.
