Lentil burgers: rich and nutritious recipe

Ingredients

  • 150 grams of lentils
  • 1 dry tomato in pieces
  • 2 full garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • a teaspoon of oregano
  • a teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 small big-headed onion diced
  • Olive oil (or the one of your preference)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

Step 1. Cook

Put a pot with water over high heat and pour into it a little oil, the garlic, the dried tomato in pieces and the lentils. Allow this pot to boil for about 30 minutes, leaving it covered.

Step 2. Process

After this time, remove the contents of the pot, strain it and pass it through a mixer (or a blender) letting it process for a few seconds or until it forms a kind of paste. While you do this, put oil in a frying pan and fry the diced big-headed onion there and reserve it in a container. Also use a container and add the chia along with 4 tablespoons of water so that it hydrates and grows for use in the next step.

Step 3. Mix

In a large bowl, pour the paste you made with the lentils, the fried onions, the hydrated chia and add the oregano, the cumin, a drizzle of olive oil, salt and pepper to taste. Mix all the ingredients so that they are fully integrated. Now, form balls and flatten them a little (like when you make normal hamburger meat) and take them to fry in a pan with oil, letting them brown each one on both sides.

Step 4. Serve
