Why should I keep wearing a bra?

They have said that it is bad, that it causes flaccidity, that it is useless, that it imprisons a woman’s freedom… But surely you have it on now!

I remember that a few years ago (2013) a French study came out that claimed to have found damages in the use of the bra. The investigation concluded that this garment did not help at all to support the chest, reduce back pain or prevent premature sagging. Moreover, he claimed that those who did not wear a bra had their nipples on average 7 mm higher than those women who used it daily.

This study, which made a lot of noise on the internet at the time of its release, ignores a basic reason women wear bras: COMFORT! At the risk of pissing off some brave women who burned this garment in their younger days, here are 11 reasons why we should keep wearing them:

1. The bra prevents your breasts from meeting your belly: It sounds horrible and it is, especially if you are dying of heat and feel that the sweat has adhered your breasts to your abdomen.

2. Keeps your breasts in place: This is essential when you run, get pushed on public transport, wear a crossbody bag and live other situations in which, if you didn’t have this piece of clothing, your friends would be at recess.

3. For hygiene: When you don’t wear a bra (and I know because I’ve done it) you have to adjust your breasts constantly, because believe me, each one will go their own way; the problem is that you adjust them with your hands, which are usually dirty if you’re walking down the street or at work.

4. Nobody finds out about your body temperature: One of the most annoying things we experience when we don’t wear a bra is the sudden hardening of the nipples, which reveals when we feel cold and encourages the imagination to run wild.

5. Nobody knows what excites you either: When we get excited, the nipples also do their thing and the bra is responsible for keeping only for us what should be intimate and discreet.

6. You avoid accidental exhibitionism: Perhaps it has happened to you that, suddenly, a button on your blouse pops off, leaving you almost naked, or a downpour grabs you without an umbrella soaking your shirt… What do you prefer to show? The breasts or the bra?

7. You will be symmetrical: If you don’t have implants, you know that there is no human power (beyond the bra, of course) that keeps your friends pointing in the same direction. This garment does it.

8. You will prevent irritations: The skin of the nipple is one of the most delicate and sensitive in the body, so different fabrics or textures that constantly rub against it can hurt it. The materials from which bras are made are soft and (most importantly) the contact with your body is fixed, not friction.

You already have many arguments to contradict those who recommend you not to wear a bra… But if you decide to take it off, you can use the Toñito’s technique, with one hand!
