PI prototype of Aragonese workshop, the first prefabricated house in aluminum

“What is a can of Coca-Cola or Pepsi made? Any powerful and international brand today manufactures in aluminum, that tells you something: it is the present by the level of recycling, the cost, the immensely attainable in nature because It is the third most abundant material on the planeteven for its level of hardness and structural resistance. It is also ideal for its nobility in corrosion issues and, above all, because of that determination in the purity of lines provided by aluminum as an ally: assemblies are perfect, the sliding of one material together with another, for the purpose of strengthening a structure, it is impeccable, the result is a perfectly straight line ”.

“This 100% project made in Mexico is a universe of assemblies and solutions with the language of a new construction system. The number of problems to be solved in an exercise like this can be infinite, so it required the team work of the entire office. ” – Rafael Aragonese.

Architectural avant -garde

By importing complex technologies to implement them in the building of urban landmarks, it is not always a good decision, because having experience in the construction processes that require, with qualified labor, innumerable complications and obvious errors arise.

“It is very daring to get this in this, because a lot of research is needed. It would have taken us for four or five years to develop this project uninterruptedly, however we stopped for a while and it took us 10 years throughout the process. The level of research that is required is very expensive, so you don't know where it will take you, why do you want to risk? And more in a multidiscipline such as architecture, which is integrally a business for many offices and companies, ”says Miguel Ángel.

The constructive process had to mutate, just as the cart was transformed into a Tesla car. «If you analyze a building of Mies van der Roheof Gerrit Rietveld, Hugh Jacobsen Or Le Corbusier himself does not see an evolutionary process in terms of constructive characteristics and language, on the contrary, it was an involution, we wanted to invent how to complicate architecture instead of making it more complex, we confuse complexity with complication, that is reality. ”

It is an open criticism that Aragonese has done for some time, where it also questions curved language and structures that suddenly intend to be organic, simulating a whale or a skeleton. “How for what? If that takes me to something substantial, go ahead, if that results in a more economical, purer, linear, objective, clear and simple definition, welcome! But if all it does is complicate the construction system, it seems to me an absolute involution.

“Art does evolve, from Boticelli to Ellsworth Kelly there are many steps and I do not say what is better or worse, simply that, if there is an evolution of language, in art, in the way of communicating and adapting to a society that today requires different things, because it is already different, why complicate things when What the world asks are simpler solutionsmore evolved, lower energy consumption in every way, that tends the universe. As Stephen Hawking said: 'Energy are particles', then, use the least possible number of particles, save energy, and to the extent that this is feasible your conclusion will be clearer. ”

THE UNION OF TALENTS

Aragonese workshop It is a small office with five architects, so the team works together to achieve maximum development.
