The house already had a series of striking elements, such as staggered rooms, high ceilings and beautiful hardware: «All that was there, but I also needed some sexy elements, some youth,» Anderson explains. The designer injected this fresh spirit into the residence palette. It is changing, saturated and dim: Brown wool walls with dusty pink nuances cover the dining room; The dark green covers the formal room; Even black sneaks into the bar … «We play with the color palette,» he adds. Even so, not everything is sensual corners and elegant compositions: «We kept the light in many of the daily areas because Kyle loves light, so it was an exercise of balance.»
For owners, tones helped to combine even more their different inclinations for design with Organic modern style: «I am an art fan and I love all the styles,» says Kyle. «Sean was able to connect as many periods of time and different movements using the color palette as a conductive thread.» In the room, a Japanese four panel screen covers television; in the dining room, an oil of a dead nature; In the kitchen, works of art in carbon on paper; And in the study, an ancient map of Paris: «It is great that he has been able to resort to so many different perspectives,» adds Kyle.
Among the many artistic styles, Vagabundo art stands out, a popular carpentry technique used in the United States between the 1870s and 1930s: «I have been in the vagabond art for years,» says Anderson, «I found a box of this style and Kyle loved it, so it started a great collection. It is now distributed throughout the house.»
In fact, the admiration of Kyle and Anderson for vagabond art was so great that, when it was time to rebuild the kitchen – one of the only two property rooms that required important reforms – the designers commissioned a local craftsman to create all the details of the bombling in the style of vagabond art. Anna, who grew up in Russia, loved the idea, since she reminded the wooden ornaments of the Dachas: «He made the cabinets seem modern and at the same time evoke popular art,» he says.
