Modern cabin, a timeless dream of elegance and style

A Modern cabin? Mountain shawls are usually very classic, full of wooden panels and recharged friezes. A visit to this former Megève farm, renewed by the Friedmann & Versace study, reveals that it is also possible to create a living and contemporary interior in such a space. Far from local topics and projects in which tradition is very (not to say too much) present, the Parisian duo has imagined a warm place, using textures and colors with a very careful semantics. Like the surrounding mountains, this villa is a celebration of the elements – piedra, rivers, thorny trees – in a family and cozy atmosphere, where sharing is the keyword.

A heritage that is worth keeping

For a long time, the Lyonnais marriage, owner, feels attachment to this valley of the high saboya and has always wanted to spend weekends in Megève, both in summer and winter, to enjoy skiing and outdoor sports. So, this Modern cabin It was designed to meet the needs of this family of four children, as well as the festive spirit so appreciated by the couple, whose Megève's friends live nearby. «It was also important for them to preserve the heritage of the building, whose original framework has been preserved, but giving it a true identity,» interior architects explain, whose work is well known in the region. The project recently won the Versailles award, awarded by UNESCO in recognition of the work of architects in harmony with the environment.

An open space

Virginie Friedmann and Delphine Versace explain: “They wanted a large and familiar living room, where they could entertain and enjoy the house all year. Therefore, the great main room was divided into several areas, all around the monumental green ceramic fireplace. This segmentation also allowed warmth to a very wide space that, by nature, was quite cold, «they explain. Two small rooms, dedicated to reading and watching television, have been designed with all the necessary comforts. On the other hand, the reception area, overlooking the mountains, has a huge wooden wood and wood carved wood, four meters long (» unusual Furniture of this modern cabin has been designed by the study, with some pieces acquired in the Galerie Armel Soyer.

The reception zone has a long -made bar made, ideal for parties. The onyx sieraldo countertop is the work of Atelier Lemaître, and the base of walnut with bundle, by Didier Villancher. The desktop lamp by Thomas Duriez, comes from the Galerie Armel Soyer.

In this great room, «everything is open, everything flows.» The kitchen is a natural extension of this hybrid room. «We wanted a very aesthetic kitchen with a sideboard that we designed in reference to the dispensaries and the herbalist monks who went to the mountain to collect herbs.» The carved solid wood sideboard is a cozy red and was made of a local cabinet (who also designed the bar of the living room). «We are inspired by the Santa Maria Novella dispensary, in Florence,» they add. It is true that the reference to this famous institution, originally from the Middle Ages on the other side of the Alps, gives the stay an unusual master character in a kitchen.
