Ingredients

  • One box of boxed fritter dough
  • Two liters of cooking oil
  • 266 grams of coastal cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 133 grams of water (it is something like a quarter of a cup)
  • 3 grams of baking powder (optional)

Preparation

Step 1. Pour

The first thing you should do is pour cooking oil into a pot that is deep and has a flat bottom. You could fill it with this oil to about 3/4 of its total depth and start heating it over medium heat.

Step 2. Mix

In a large enough bowl, add the mix from the fritter box along with the cheese, egg and water. Start kneading with your hand until you get a homogeneous mixture because it should not be too hard or too loose. If it is still very hard, add a splash of water and knead again. Once you feel that the dough is at the ideal point, you can optionally add the baking powder and stir again to join the dough. Assemble the balls taking a little mixture.

Step 3. Fry

The oil must be very hot, but be careful that it is not too hot, as this will cook the fritters on the outside but not on the inside. If you have a kitchen thermometer, use it and check that the oil is at 150 degrees. If you don’t have one, test it with a small ball of dough, it should fall to the bottom of the oil and come to the surface 5 or 6 seconds later. Put now if the fritters to fry and do not put so many at the same time. They should start turning on their own and once they turn golden brown and their crust looks hard, it will be time to take them out. Let them cool down a bit and enjoy them as a family, Bon appetite.
