Rock tea to lose weight and more (properties, benefits and recipe)

Rock tea to lose weight We have received several questions this week related to a plant called rock tea (tea de aragon) and if it helps to lose weight. Before being able to answer this question, we consider it appropriate to clarify, from a botanical point of view, what rock tea is, its benefits and general health properties.

Rock tea is a herbaceous plant, belonging to the Compositae family. Every year, at the beginning of spring, shoots are formed from this strain, which are slimy stems from 20 to 30 cm. tall, generally numerous in each strain.

The stems are often reddish in color, and are covered with three kinds of hair: they have a very fine, long hair of about 4 mm. long; another hair also white, very dense, 1 mm. a little more or less; and, finally, very abundant short hairs with an amber gland at the top, which give the plant its remarkable viscosity that characterizes it.

The leaves are narrowly lanceolate, without a corner, slightly wavy at the base, with entire edges, and covered on both sides with glandular hairs similar to those on the stem.

At the end of the stems, one or, more commonly, various heads are born surrounded by leaflets or linear bracts, also glandular, with small yellow flowers, and so short that they barely protrude from the involucre.

The small fruits are downy, glandular at the end, and tufted by a double pappus, the outer one very short. The leaves of this plant are very aromatic, with a camphoraceous smell, and a slightly bitter taste.

There are no ancient writings on the properties of this plant. It was not included in the European pharmacopoeias until the 16th century.

It is better to collect it before the heads open, at a variable time depending on the temperament of the town where it is raised.

It is advisable to cut the flowering tops, leaving the lower part of the stems to the plant, without cutting them down to the base, much less pulling the plant from the rennet, because with many looking for it, it would end up being lost.
