Bronchial asthma is characterized by sudden attacks of short, gasping breaths accompanied by wheezing.
If the attack is not stopped, the person may experience increasing difficulty breathing.
According to him ayurveda, the underlying cause of all asthmatic disorders is an increase in the kapha dosha in the stomach. From there it passes to the lungs, the trachea and the bronchi. This increase in kapha blocks the natural flow of air, causing spasms in the bronchial tree and resulting in asthma and wheezing.
The goal of Ayurvedic asthma treatment is to return the kapha that has lodged in the lungs and bronchial tubes to the stomach, where it can be eliminated.
Asthma and its wheezing may be caused by a allergya cold, congestion, cough or hay fever. It can also be due to pollen from dust, animal hair or some foods, as well as an internal increase in kapha.
