The seeds contain up to 63 percent fat, from which andiroba oil is extracted, rich in palmitic, oleic, stearic, and linoleic acids.

It also contains bitter terpenes such as meliacins (among them gedunina, with possible antiparasitic properties), carapin and andirobin.
