Surely you have heard that it is never too late to start learning something, and the best proof of this is adult people, especially those who are in the third age, decide to enroll in university and manage to successfully finish a degree.
Although universities in general do not establish an age limit to enter their educational offer, the reality is that it is common to see young people in their classrooms, except for some isolated cases.
To respond to the educational needs of this sector of the population, In the State of Mexico, an educational institution was established especially aimed at adults who wish to be trained, either with a university degree or with a course. His name is Unit of Higher Studies for Older Adults and is located in the municipality of Ecatepec.
This new institution, which just opened its doors in March of this year, belongs to the Universidad Mexiquense del Bicentenario and offers Law and Administration degrees, as well as continuous training courses in Language and culture, Information and communication technologies, Administration, economy and finance, Law, human rights and culture for peace, and Human development. Besides, Nutrition, Psychology and Arts careers will soon be available.
Although its name says that it is for older adults, in reality Its educational offer is aimed at people who are from 35 years old. The school has the capacity to serve up to 800 students and each group has a maximum capacity of 20 students, with the aim of providing more personalized attention from the teachers.
Currently, the enrollment of the Higher Education Unit for Older Adults is 112 students between the ages of 35 and 75, of which 69 are enrolled in Law, 33 in Administration and the rest in some of the courses.
Among the services offered by this institution for the benefit of its students are the computer lab, the library, the doctor’s office and the cafeteria, as well as an auditorium equipped with audiovisual equipment and a room for oral trials where law students carry out internships starting from the third quarter.
