Why do instant noodles cook so fast?

The secret is pre-cooking. During manufacturing, instant noodles are cooked and then lose their water in a frying process. For this reason, it arrives in your pot semi-ready and only needs three minutes to be devoured. Easy, right? The only problem is that this manufacturing process makes the dough more caloric because of the frying.

“A 90-gram packet of conventional pasta has about 315 calories, while the same amount of instant noodles contains, on average, 420 calories,” says nutritionist Juliana de Moraes Chaves, from Centro Universitário Monte Serrat, in Santos (SP). In addition, many brands enrich the product with vitamins to obtain the yellowish color. This can further alter the nutritional characteristics of the dough.

But don’t worry: instant noodles are not harmful to your health – of course, it’s not worth stuffing yourself with just them, because then you won’t have the nutrients that a balanced diet is capable of providing. And those who suffer from high blood pressure really have to take it easy, because the artificial seasoning that accompanies the pasta is rich in salt, which can lead to high blood pressure.
