1) Chase was born in 1950, in Santa Clara, California (USA), on May 23, 1950. Along with his sister, he suffered violence at the hands of parents who imposed strict discipline at home. Richard enjoyed killing domestic animals and became an alcoholic at just 10 years old.

two) At 18, he left home and experimented with hard drugs. Paranoia and hallucinations led Chase to spend a year in a psychiatric hospital, where he was nicknamed Dracula – patients said he killed rabbits in the garden to drink their blood.

3) Living alone, but supported by the mother, Richard released the madness once and for all. With a height of 1.80 m and just over 65 kg, Richard took his hypochondria to another level, believing that he needed someone else’s blood to survive or, otherwise, his body would disintegrate…

4) Started a bloody diet by killing domestic animals in the neighborhood. After being captured, Chase he said he needed the blood and entrails of dogs and cats to keep his body functioning. He also fed on the raw meat of slaughtered animals.

5) Soon, animals were no longer enough. He needed to hunt people. The first victim was a 51-year-old engineer, shot at the wheel of a pickup truck. Chase he broke into houses, but before locked doors he felt unwelcome and turned back (ie, yet another similarity with vampires). He messed up a few empty houses, urinating and defecating on the floors.

6) In 1978, he entered the home of pregnant Teresa Wallin and mutilated her. Six days later, he killed Evelyn Miroth, along with her son, an infant nephew, and a friend of the son’s. Richard he cannibalized and drank the victims’ blood, but as he began to “work” on the baby, he was interrupted by a neighbor and fled.

7) Witnesses took FBI agents to the killer’s home, where they found body parts, furniture covered in blood and even a diary marking the day of the murders. Chase he is cited to this day as an example of a sloppy serial killer in US federal police training.

WHAT END DID IT TAKE?

In 1979, Chase was sentenced to death in the gas chamber. While awaiting sentencing, he took an overdose of depression medication and died in late 1980.
