Who gave the longest speech in the world?

If you thought of the Cuban leader Fidel Castro, famous for his endless speeches, you were wrong: the champion in gossip is the Frenchman Lluis Colet. He broke the world record for the longest speech by talking non-stop for a whopping 124 hours – or five days and four hours! During all this time, Colet, who is a guide at the Museum of Arts and Catalan Traditions in Perpignan, in the south of France, did not sleep a wink and ate only quick dishes so as not to interrupt the chatter. And where did he get so much stuff? In addition to reading texts by great authors, Colet chatted a lot about the Spanish painter Salvador Dalí, his favorite, and the culture of Catalonia, a Spanish region whose main city is Barcelona. It is the second time he has won the mark. In the first, in 2004, he spoke for “only” 48 hours. The previous record was 120 hours. Have an ear!
