Thanks to the water in the cotton – yes, it needs to be wet. the seed of bean has a reserve of nutrients (as occurs in about 90% of plants). As its skin is permeable, the seed absorbs the liquid, which, together with the nutrients, makes the bean germinate within three days. About 24 hours after that, the first leaf appears. The plant still manages to survive for another week, until the earth becomes indispensable for it to grow. But not so with any plant.
