1) Natalia Baksheeva was a nurse at the Krasnodar Air Force Academy. She and her husband, Dimitri Baksheev, occasionally lived in barracks on the base. An apartment in a semi-abandoned block of buildings within the military compound was used by the couple as a second home.
two) In September 2017, dismembered pieces of a girl were found in the gym, inside a bucket and a backpack belonging to Dimitri. On his cell phone, police found a selfie of him biting a severed hand, with one finger stuck in his nose.
3) The investigation continued to his apartment, where body parts were found in the basement, mutilated limbs preserved in vinegar in the refrigerator, cans of cooked human meat and 19 slices of skin. The kitchen looked like a butcher shop. The pieces were later identified as belonging to at least eight different victims.
4) The overwhelming amount of evidence made Natalia confess. According to her, the last victim had been waitress Elena Vashrusheva, 35 years old. They took her home and, before numbing her, staged a jealous rage that caused Natalia to hit the victim first.
5) In interrogation, she revealed that they were looking for a victim on dating sites and apps, invited her to a chat, took her to the apartment and already executed her on the first date. Another option was to meet people in the neighborhood, create a friendship and always end up the same way.
6) While talking to the future “meal”, Natalia and Dimitri offered her vodka with Covalol, a powerful tranquilizer. Then the theater rolled: if the victim was a woman, Natalia feigned jealousy and beat her. To pledge allegiance, Dimitri stabbed her. If the guest was a man, the roles were reversed.
7) Natalia also revealed that, to increase her income, she started selling meals to local businesses and academy cadets. But they were made of human raw material! Her biggest hit was a minced meat pie. The freaks even recorded videos, found on their computer, teaching how to prepare their cannibal delicacies.
8) At the scene, the police also discovered bags with the victims’ belongings and photographs in which the serial killers posed with body parts. The one that most drew attention was that of a head among oranges, with an entry on the back: Christmas 1999. This evidence corroborates the start date of the crimes confessed by the couple.
9) Sergei Labinstev, a merchant who knew the couple ten years ago, he was the only one to survive an attack six weeks earlier. The three were at Labinstev’s house when Dimitri, «jealous», attacked him with a bar stool. The merchant managed to call a taxi and drive them out of the residence.
10) The crimes are under intense investigation and new information is always emerging. In October, Natalia backtracked on parts of the confession, but did not deny killing Elena. In November, a third suspect, Roman Sidorov, emerged. This friend of Dimitri was supposedly used as “bait” on websites and apps.
