There are no records that prove the emergence of the inverted symbol, but it is certain that it was part of ancient cultures, such as Greek and Babylonian. On the ceiling of Egyptian temples, for example, the star with five yellow points was drawn on a blue background and represented the goddess Nut, Mother of Heaven.
pagan representation
In medieval alchemy, the opposite pentagram meant the insertion of the human being into the microcosm. As a symbol of protection and magic, it was adopted by neopaganism to represent their religions – just like the cross for Christianity; and the Star of David, which characterizes Judaism

The first image of Baphomet, an occult entity, was circumscribed in an inverted pentagram. The record is from 1897 and appears in the book A Chave da Magia Negra. The symbol is the trademark of the Church of Satan, founded by the American Anton Lavey, in 1966. The letters around the image are of Hebrew origin and form the word “Leviathan“

Conspiracy theories link the pentagram to the Illuminati. The proof would be the project of architect (and Freemason) Pierre Charles L’Enfant for Washington, who created the project at the request of then President George Washington, in 1791. The plan of the district would have the shape of an inverted star. And the Illuminati, who had Masonic connections, were soon accused of demon worship.
