Puppies are incredibly cute and in fact some dog breeds still look like they have just hatched when they are fully grown!
There are a lot more dogs that always look like puppies these days than there were a few years ago.
It is the so-called “baby scheme”, which triggers the need for care and concern in us humans. Unfortunately, that doesn’t bode well for many dogs!
Do you want to know why? Then read on!
18 dogs that always look like puppies at a glance
«Oh, he’s sooooooooo cute!» – Who perceives which dog as cute or less cute is purely a matter of taste.
However, most people find puppies cute and because humans can do everything, they have also «bred» some dogs so that they always look like puppies. See for yourself!
1. Pomeranian
The Pomeranian, also known as the Toy Spitz or Zwergspitz, looks like a small teddy bear.
It weighs a maximum of 3.5 kilograms and reaches a shoulder height of 20 cm. Even when fully grown, the Pomeranian looks like a puppy.
2. German Spitz
The German Spitz also belongs to the Spitz family. They are among the oldest dog breeds in the world and all have one thing in common:
Pointy ears and unbelievably plush fur! Her cute face surrounded by all that plush makes her look like puppies even when fully grown.
3.Chihuahua
The Mexican Chihuahua is also one of the oldest dog breeds on the planet and is also the smallest canine representative.
The huge ears and googly eyes fit exactly into the popular children’s scheme!
«Oh, he’s cute!» – fortunately the Chihuahua is that by nature, even without extreme breeding.
Nevertheless, some people are of the opinion that more fur colors and even more round eyes are needed… That’s called torture breeding.
4. Miniature Poodle
Have you always thought that the miniature poodle is the smallest of all poodles? You’re wrong, because we found an even smaller poodle.
But even the miniature poodle, with its maximum shoulder height of 35 cm, still looks like a cute little puppy in adulthood!
5. Toy poodle
The smallest poodle in the world is the toy poodle! It reaches a maximum height of 28 centimeters at the withers.
You will definitely only recognize the difference between a Toy Poodle puppy and an adult Toy Poodle at second glance!
6. Maltese
The Maltese is small, white, fluffy and just 20 – 25 centimeters tall. His temperament is good-natured, playful, carefree and affectionate.
The little dog is not only super cute as a puppy but stays that cute all his life.
7. Coton de Tulear
This breed of dog comes from Madagascar and is born with multi-faceted coat colors such as lemon yellow-white, gray & white or tricolor.
When fully grown, the little dog has slightly longer fur, but still looks like a baby.
8. Pekingese
The Pekingese is a very sad example of torture breeding. The extremely cultivated short snout gives him serious breathing problems.
He has bulging eyes that are much too large and strong nose folds that quickly become inflamed if not cared for. Unfortunately, the crippled gait of the Pekingese is also a result of abnormal overbreeding.
A request:
Please do not support torture breeding! If you have fallen in love with a dog breed that suffers from torture breeding traits, there is only one option: you need to find a reputable breeder who is intent on breeding the exaggerated traits back (for example, by crossing other breeds).
9. Pomsky
A classic «designer dog,» the Pomsky is a hybrid of a Siberian Husky and a Pomeranian. In contrast to some torture breeds, however, he has fewer health problems.
Nevertheless, he has a tendency to eye diseases and malformations in the hip area.
The Pomsky always looks like a Husky puppy, even when they are fully grown.
10. French bulldog – the fashion dog
The Frenchie also corresponds to the child pattern and was bred towards it. Huge bulging eyes, deep wrinkles on the face and a muzzle that is much too short make life difficult for the Frenchie.
But there are also responsible breeders here and the squishy snout is really sweet!
11. Papillon
The Papillon is a dream come true, both visually and in terms of character. He is just 20 – 28 centimeters tall and weighs a maximum of 4.5 kilograms.
Its plush “butterfly ears” give it its name. This little dog still looks like a puppy when fully grown!
12. Shih Tzu
If you decide to get a Tibetan Shih Tzu, you will be spoiled for choice when it comes to the coat color: from black to white, light brown, liver brown, dark brown, black and white, white and liver colors to blue and gold, everything is possible!
He is smart, affectionate and playful. The Shih Tzu still looks like a puppy even as an adult dog, especially when it is clipped!
13. Bichon Frize
The docile Bichon Frize looks like a small cotton ball. He is born as a cotton ball and leaves it as such.
Nevertheless, the little dog should not be underestimated! He is intelligent, lively, playful and spirited.
14.Volpino Italiano
Another little Spitz! The Volpino Italiano belongs to the Spitz family and is assigned to the guard and companion dogs. Its long coat can be either white, red, or champagne colored.
15. Pug
The prime example of torture breeding is the pug. He also suffers from a muzzle that is far too short, skin folds that are too deep, bulging eyes and a crippled gait.
And why? Only so that man has a dog that corresponds exactly to his (sick) ideas. We think things have gotten out of hand!
16. Yorkshire Terriers
The Yorkshire Terrier is an intrepid Briton. He is considered self-confident and independent. This little dog definitely knows that he is 23 centimeters at most and that he still looks like a puppy even as an adult!
That doesn’t bother him, he bravely stands in the way of everything and everyone! Small dog with extreme size!
17. Cavapoochon
Cavawas? Cavapoochon! Never heard? Let’s break this down: Cava stands for Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, poo for poodles and Chon for Bichon Frize.
The Cavapoochon is a hybrid of these three super sweet breeds. No wonder he looks like a puppy forever!
18. Miniature Pinscher
The Miniature Pinscher, also known as the Rehpinscher, Minpin or Minidobermann, is definitely small, but mighty! He is assertive, self-confident, independent, active, energetic and loves to bark (he is also a guard dog).
The smallest Pinscher looks a bit like a Doberman puppy due to its height of a maximum of 30 centimeters even when fully grown.
