Hamburg, March 07, 2022 – The war in Ukraine has already forced over a million people to flee their homes, but it is also affecting pets and large numbers of other animals across the country. For several days now, the global animal protection organization , together with local partners, has been trying to care for pets that are taken to neighboring countries by Ukrainian refugees. Due to the dangerous situation, the stray animal aid activities in Ukraine have to be paused until further notice.
Specifically, helps with vaccinations, the insertion of microchips and medical treatments, provides transport boxes for pets, food, leashes and harnesses as well as temporary accommodation.
has been active in Ukraine for ten years and has an office in Kiev. The animal protection organization also runs the BEAR SANCTUARY Domazhyr in western Ukraine, which is currently home to 34 rescued bears.
In the animal shelters in Ukraine itself, requests for food are increasing sharply. has been working on pet projects in Ukraine since 2012, the stray team has provided much-needed veterinary care to 30,000 stray dogs and cats in over 60 communities over the past ten years.
