The prediction of the future based on the study of the positions of the stars has been present in the culture of humanity. Regardless of where you are in the world, there will always be a group of people dedicated to exploring these topics. India, besides having one of the civilizations most surprising on the planet, has its particular hindu horoscope.

The first references date from 1500 before Our Era, recorded in ancient texts of religion of the hindu culture. These books were known by the name of «Closed”, which translated into Spanish from the classical language, means knowledge. Similarly, the Hindu horoscope comes from the vedic astrology either Jyotish In Sanskrit language it means «celestial light body”.

Later, the influence of western astrology denotes its strong presence between the years 150 before Christ and 140 after Christ, as could be verified in old books belonging to the Greek astronomer, geographer and mathematician Hipparchus of Nicaea who lived between 190 and 120 BC.

However, in 664 after Christ, the Muslim invasions after the death of Mohammed, the Arabs controlled Mesopotamia, Egypt and Syria, achieving not only control of the territory, but also the destruction of ancient astrological knowledge.

At present, the Hindu horoscope maintains its mysticism but based on classical medieval astrology through the compilation of the Kalyāṇavarman’s Sārāvalī texts occurred in 800 after Christ.

One of the most amazing features of the Hindu horoscope is the vision of the sidereal astrology from the planetary perception and not astral as the horoscope by which we lean on this side of the planet. This condition produces a variation in also 12 signs that are related to the western horoscope.

For this reason, each sign of the Hindu astrology has its counterpart in the western zodiac. Thus, Meṣa (Aries); Vṛṣabha (Taurus); Mithuna (Gemini); Karka (Cancer); Siṃha (Leo); Kania (Virgo); Tula (Libra); Vrischika (Scorpio), Dhanus (Sagittarius); Makara (Capricorn); Kumbha (Aquarius) and Mīna (Pisces), make up the signs of the Hindu horoscope.

The reason for the name of each sign is intertwined with the origin of the Hindu culture. However, there is a physical process related to the phase shift of the earth called equinoctial precession. Astronomically, this natural movement of the earth is the slow and gradual change in the orientation of the axis of rotation of the earth directly and translation indirectly.

Unlike the western horoscope the hindu splitsas if it were an organization chart, in three segments or areas with functions, studies and interpretations of the stars and constellations totally different from each other.

It has a body that is in charge of the study of the astronomical characteristics of the celestial bodies called «The Siddantas”; the other group is related to atmospheric phenomena such as natural disasters or economic movements, wars or epidemics called «The Samhites”, and finally there are the “The Phalitha Jyothisha”, who are dedicated to prediction according to the individual’s birth chart.
