Machu Picchu is located on the elevation of some rocks between the Huayna Picchu and Machu Picchu mountains. It is an ancient Inca town found in Peru, it is believed that the first Inca Emperor, Pachacutec, lived in this place. Due to the beautiful structure full of history and beauty, it is also considered an ancient religious sanctuary.

Machu Picchu was decreed as a world heritage site, in addition to being one of the seven wonders of the world. Learn a little more about its history.

Historically, the Inca empire was established in Cuzco, 1200 years after Christ. Although there are many legends about the origin of this citadel, they all point out that Manco Cápac was its founder and first governor. This wonderful creation was not always in the hands of its first founder, in fact, it did not even possess these architectural wonders until it fell into the hands of the emperor, Pachacutec, who would gloriously issue this dynasty.

There was a federation called Ayarmaca, main enemies of the first Incas who lived in this city, who were responsible for different attacks on the town.

This historic town was only known by its inhabitants, but since the historian Hiram Bingham discovered it, they were exposed to the whole world. In this way, with the help of different organizations and the Peruvian government, Bingham was able to start his archaeological work. When removing all the weeds that covered these ruins, several tombs of the inhabitants of this small city were discovered, something quite incredible to see.

When this city was discovered, it became the greatest tourist attraction in Peru, as well as being one of the greatest heritages left by the Incas in the world. Incredible, isn’t it? However, before this famous archaeologist arrived at the lands of Machu Picchu, nine years ago it had already been discovered by Agustín Lizarra, a land tenant in that area.

There are quite solid beliefs that this city was built taking into account astronomical and ritual criteria. Some of the architectural buildings were aligned with the «solar azimuth», something not accidental.

The construction of this building was made mostly of white granite. Most of the buildings were made in a rectangular shape, in its vicinity you can see different roads made by the Incas, where you can still reach different Inca complexes. Among these buildings, there is one of great interest called Temple of the Moon, where through these paths it can also be reached; this temple is located on the top of the mountain.

The wonderful story tells that each of its surroundings is incredible. The great fame of this place is due to its extraordinary history and ancient architecture. When visiting this citadel, perceive the great energy and magic that surrounds this ancient town. Visit it and enjoy it!
