The Kua number in Feng Shui is calculated from your date of birth. It has the objective of activating harmony at your home or office. Once you know your Kua number, you have a notion of what your favorable elements are and where to place them in your personal spaces.
Ana Maria Balarezo, Feng Shui specialist, says that the Kua shows the element of each person, as well as the positive coordinates to consider at a person’s home or office, leading each action performed in these places to success.
First of all, note that the Chinese calendar always starts with the first new moon of the year, different from the Western calendar, which always has a different date. “An example – says Balerozo – is that the year of the Dragon started on January 23rd, 2012 and went until February 9th, 2014. In this case, in order to calculate the Kua number, all those people born before February 9th will belong to the previous year.”
Once that point is clear, let’s proceed to calculate the Kua number. For women, add the four numbers of your year of birth, then add the result of that until you get one single digit. Men should subtract the digits instead.
After the Kua is calculated, people can see what their personal element is. If, for example, your Kua number is 1, then your favorable coordinates will belong to this group, and your element is water, so you can look for elements that represent it to benefit you, for example, color, shapes, decoration and furniture, etc.
if your Kua number is 2 or 8, then your favorable coordinate is West, and your element is earth, so your colors are earthy colors and square or flat shapes. If your Kua number is 3 or 4, your favorable coordinate is East and your element is wood, and you can benefit from rectangular shapes as well as from vegetation.
If your Kua number is 6 or 7, your favorable coordinate is East, and your element is metal. You can benefit from oval shapes and metallic colors, and you should use these in your ideal places.
If your Kua number is 9, your favorable direction is East, and your element is fire. Those whose Kua number is 9 will benefit from yellow, orange, and red. If your number is 5, according to Feng Shui’s philosophy, this number doesn’t have a direction, so for men, he needs to turn to number twoand women should turn to number 8.
