Monday, December 14th 2015. The American actress Megan Fox will stand in for Zooey Deschanel in the comedy series “New Girl”. The series producer Elizabeth Meriwther says she’s happy to have the new actress on board with the series that has been airing since 2011, whose leading role ‘Jess’ will not be played by Zooey Deschanel in its fifth season due to Deschanel’s maternity leave.
The new plot circles around Jess leaving for jury duty, clearing the path for Reagan’s entrance, played by Fox; a young and extroverted pharmaceutical agent who will stand in for Deschanel for a few months. The producer took Fox into account because she loved her ability for comedy despite her evident beauty, which is why from the beginning she wrote the Reagan character with her already in mind. Megan’s character will be on air from the sixth episode on, since Zooey managed to film for the first five episodes.
The audience is holding its breath about what might happen regarding the gang’s dynamic or how easily Megan can adapt to the show, all we know is that Zooey isn’t far and will come back to characterize the endearing Jess.
The series main plot revolves around the arrival of Jess, the new girl, to a loft in Los Angeles after her boyfriend was unfaithful. She gets a room in a large place for low rent, where she meets who would become “the guys”, her best friends from her Winston, Schmidt and Nick, the latter becomes her love interest from her later on.
We get to know Jess’ character little by little, a girl with good values and a little weird; but that fit perfectly with the audience’s taste of her, being specially recognized for her romance with Nick, her roommate. Megan Fox carries a tall order, having to retain the audience so used to Zoeey Deschanel’s antics and quirky character.
But since not everything can be lighthearted and happy comedy, the new character drops into the story to turn everything on its head; for her plot of her is based on an old romance with Cece, Jess’ best friend and Schmidt’s new fiancé. Her beauty of her might also create some rivalry among the guys; not much is known about how the story will actually develop, however, we can guarantee different situations than those to which we are used to laugh at.
The series airs its fifth season on January 5th 2016, we wholeheartedly recommend you don’t miss the gang’s shenanigans and Fox’s role while we wait for Jess’ return.
