The researchers attributed the beneficial effects of both teas to a variety of plant compounds, including flavonoids.

Study co-author Dr. Pam Mason explained: «The green mint It has been traditionally used in herbal medicine for a large number of digestive disorders, such as indigestion, IBS, and diarrhea.

“The evidence highlights that natural compounds like these have anti-inflammatory and dilating properties of blood vessels”.

Dr Catherine Hood added: “The Herbal Teas and Women’s Health study shows that drinking a cup of German chamomile every day it can aid relaxation and promote better quality sleep.

Some of the antioxidants found in tea are flavonoidswhich have historically been beneficial for both cholesterol and blood pressure control.

These dietary antioxidants could be beneficial in the development of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, and cognitive diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia.
